The psycho shower scene starts with some kind of music to give the audience a clue that a scary action will happen. The music really gives effect as it’s making the audience expect a death.
You can hear when she rips a page and that sound intersects with the same music, however it starts going low while she gets up and goes to the bathroom.
Then over the sound of the low, high pitched kinda ‘what’s going to happen next’ music the toilet is flushed and the music stops.
The sound of the shower starts to fade in once she’s looking up and then the sound of the water gives me a relaxing vibe, however because I have a small feeling that someone may appear from behind the curtains it also gives me the frightening vibe. The sound of the shower keeps going for about 30 seconds, and not much is happening apart from the women showering.
Then a shadow can be seen from behind the curtains and the sound of the music leaves you terrified, especially how loud it is. The sounds go high and low repeatedly and the low sound is still pretty high, but it is lower than the actual high note. So what happened here was that the relaxing sound of the shower creates a peaceful atmosphere and then as expected, because of the shadow, the terrifying music leave the audience with a shock and not really and I’m mentioning not really because there is the expectation that something is going to happen but the audience does not know what exactly so it’s still a bit of a shock. In addition to this, the women starts screaming once she realises the situation which adds to the effect of the terrifying sound. It also helps that the sound goes from smooth to suddenly loud and fast.
The women keeps screaming and fighting and with every scream, it seems like the sound gets louder and louder. At first. it truly does make the scene seem a bit scary, however the same kind of sounds can be heard for about 20 seconds and it starts getting boring to hear the same type of sounds and see the women getting stabbed for a couple of times.
At some point, the screams stop. That’s when the high-low sounds stop, and then they start again but this time, they are a lower version but the same rhythm. So the notes still go up and down, it’s just a lower version. Over the high-low notes, you can hear the women taking deep breaths. Then, the sounds go lower and lower, so they fade out, and they stop. That’s when the women grabs the curtains and falls over, making a sudden sound.
All this town, the sound of the soothing shower still goes on. It pretty much can be hear the whole video apart from the beginning, before she went in. For the last minute of the scene, the only sound that can be heard is the shower.
