Primary research:
For my primary research, I have been asking some of my friends about dreams and visitations.
These were the questions and their answers:
What do dreams mean to you?
-
When we go to sleep we dream about something related to what’s currently happening in our life
-
Things we dream about that we wish
-
Memories
Conclusion: The 3 people who answered this question seem to relate dreams to situations that happen in our lives and I agree, but I also think that other people believe that dreams can be about something totally different from our lives and are not necessarily related to us.
Can you give me 2 examples of dreams?
-
Nightmares and just normal dreams
-
Lucid dreams and prophetic dreams
-
Daydreaming and nightmares
Conclusion: 2 people have given nightmare as a type of dream, which shows that either people have often nightmares or it is just the first thing that comes to their mind when they hear the word dreams. Nightmares often happen because people are stressed. It could also mean that they have watched a horror movie the night before. But everyone has nightmares, whether it happens often or not.
What do you think of when you hear the word ‘visitation’?
- A visit from someone you know
- Someone visiting you while you’re asleep.
- A visit from someone close to you
Conclusion: Most of the time, a visitation can be from someone you know, however there is still a chance that you get a visit from someone you don’t know or you might have seen before but don’t remember. That person could only come to deliver a message from someone you know. There are many theories of how exactly visitations work.
Have you ever had a visitation?
- Not really
- I don’t think so/I don’t remember
- No
Conclusion: Visitations don’t happen often and if they do happen, the people dreaming and having a visitation probably don’t remember.
Secondary research:
A visitation dream is one way of getting in contact with a deceased loved one. There is just one problem. How do you know if it’s real or not?
According to Forever Conscious, visitations are easy to remember and if you have one, you are most likely to be aware of what’s happening. Sometimes you can also feel physical sensations such as a gentle touch. I personally felt sometimes that there was something on my arm or someone is touching me, however when I looked at it there was nothing. I could be wrong. Maybe that was just the wind sending a small vibration to my arm which made it feel like it’s a touch and made it react like there is something there. For all I know it could also be someone I know, that is deceased and was trying to contact me, but at the moment I had a small knowledge of how deceased loved ones can contact you and it never crossed my mind so I’ll never know.
A visitation in our dream can also be just a normal dream. How do you tell if it’s just a dream? According to Forever Conscious again, visitations just feel different. Visitations normally have a specific feeling where you realise it’s actually real and you can tell by the significance of the dream. The visitations would normally be clearer that normal dreams and also straight forward.
If I would know for sure that I had a visitation, I would ask myself ‘WHY’ .
Conforming to OMTIMES, if someone has a visitation, the dreamer is in need of affection of protection. Usually, through visitations people get comfort and assurance from the deceased ones.
On Youtube, I found a woman, Crystal Anne Compton, who strongly believes that our deceased loved ones will contact us. She makes videos about the after life, how and when deceased ones will contact us. She mentions that it takes 30 days to 3 months, after they deceased, for them to contact us, and the reason being is because they would have to adapt, process and even rest.
She tells her audience that, while you are already having a dream, the deceased one would come into that dream and you will automatically become aware of it, you become lucid because everything is clearer.
So overall, this women is saying that visitations are real since she’s had one and she shares her experience on the internet.
