1. To what extent have they understood the requirements of the project
To get a better understanding of what a horror film is, we decided to watch some short horror films and that was helpful as it made us realise what our film will be about as long as it’s not cliche as in we know what’s going to happen.
2. To what extent is there evidence of wide research?
Well, after watching the short films, we planned what our film will be about and we made sure it was not like the films we watched because we wanted to make it different. For example, we saw a film where a girl is left alone in her house chatting with her friends and then someone texts her saying they want to play a game and at the beginning the girl thinks it’s a joke and then it gets serious. To be honest, I’ve seen so many films that are pretty much the same, so we made sure we did something different.
3.To what extent is there evidence of effective planning?
‘We all planned what we were going to do, but somedays people wouldn’t show up for filming, so we couldn’t go and we wasted so much time waiting and hoping for people to show up.
4.To what extent have they shown good practical skills and an understanding of how to solve technical problems?
We’ve gone out to film and when we got there we realised we didn’t get the thing for the mic that predicts the wind from being heard while recording. So we had to go back, which meant a little waste of time, but while we were gone to get it, few people from my group stayed behind and set up the equipment, so when we got back we started recording straight away because it was getting darker. Also, darkness was a problem because we wanted to film a scene where outside should not be daylight but not complete darkness so we faced difficulties because by the time we started recording it got pretty dark and the camera couldn’t capture the people in the scene.
5.How clearly and effectively have they communicated their ideas and concepts?
Communication has been successful in our group because we gathered together and we planned the scenes and wrote the script. We told our ideas and we got a pretty good concept of what our film will be about. However, about 2-3 persons in our group barely participated as they didn’t show up and when they did show up (which was just the first time we met to plan) they didn’t share any ideas.
6.Are there any areas for improvement that you would like to suggest?
Next time, I would like more commitment from the people in my group, because it’s not fair that everybody gets credited fro something that only about half of the group has done.
