For this task we had to create our own sounds and then add them to the video of this fight scene.
The first thing me and my group did was to record to sounds. All the sounds have been created with Pro Tools.
The way we did it was to watch the video and what’s happening and then we would try to make the sounds that would be heard and would fit with the moves.
The sounds we created were the following: footsteps, punch 1, punch 2, metal falling, dragging, men, women.
This is what Pro Tools looked like after we recorded the sounds:
The first sound created was the sound of the footsteps of the woman or the men. We had 2 sets of punches because we missed a couple of them so we had to add a second set of punching sounds. The next sound we created was the sound of a metal falling. In the video we saw a sword falling on the floor so we thought we would add that small detail. Another sound we created was the sound of someone being dragged by someone else and even if the sound of the person being dragged doesn’t seem like a big detail, we added it and we made sure is loud enough. Then the last 2 sounds we created were the men and the woman fighting. For these sounds we had 2 people in our group doing some sounds like they’re in a fight.
After we bounced the sounds and each person got them, I went to Logic to start adding them, however when I tried adding the first sound it was not loud enough and while the sounds of the footsteps were barely heard, the sound of someone being dragged could not be heard at all. So to increase the volume of the sounds, I opened Premier Pro, which was another option of adding the sounds to the video, and increased the volume there. I could have added the sounds there, but I personally found Logic to be much quicker so I bounced the sounds in Premiere Pro and then I went back to Logic where I opened all the sounds and then I added them to the fight scene.
